Short description of base (100 words or less): The principal mission of the US Army Transportation Center at Fort Eustis, VA, is to train Army personnel to maintain and operate land-based transportation equipment, ocean-going vessels, and helicopters. Soldiers are trained in all modes of transportation, aviation maintenance, logistics, deployment doctrine, and research. They are deployed to support US military efforts around the world. Fort Eustis is also home to the 7th Sustainment Brigade, one of the most frequently deployed units within the Army. About 13,000 people work and live at the installation, which covers 8,228 acres and 6,951,342 square feet of total building space. This includes military, Department of Defense civilians, students, contractors, and military family members.
