Boulder, Colorado
Date Joined: October 26, 2005

The American Solar Energy Society is a national organization dedicated to advancing the use of solar energy and energy efficiency for the benefit of citizens and the global environment. ASES's Legacy Schools Program provides selected schools with a monitored photovoltaic (PV) system, solar curriculum materials with supporting teacher training, and measurement of the school's energy efficiency with ENERGY STAR's rating system.

In partnership with EPA, ASES will:

  • Encourage its Legacy Schools members to improve the energy efficiency of their buildings by 10 percent or more;
  • Train Legacy Schools partners and members to use EPA's energy performance rating system to measure their energy efficiency and identify the best opportunities for improvement; and
  • Promote ENERGY STAR goals, tools, and resources to the schools with which it works; its members in the renewable energy community, the design community, the academic community and the general public.
