The State of Maryland is committed to the goals of the ENERGY STAR Challenge. The Maryland Energy Administration (MEA) is focusing its efforts on improving energy efficiency in state buildings, K-12 schools, and commercial buildings throughout the state. To support the ENERGY STAR Challenge, Maryland will:

  • Provide information and technical assistance about ENERGY STAR tools and resources to both private and public sector commercial buildings and institutions;
  • Promote the use of the EPA national energy performance rating system as a mechanism to assess the energy performance of buildings and identify the best opportunities for improving energy efficiency; and
  • Use performance contracting, state agency loan programs, community energy loan programs, and other grants to assist in financing improvements.
