This building is part of a nine building complex called Von Karman Corporate Center. 16969 Von Karman, constructed in 1984, is air conditioned by four Carrier cooling only, packaged air conditioning units capable of producing 160 tons of refrigeration. The time schedules are controlled by electronic time clocks. The air distribution system is variable volume. Heating is supplied to the perimeter zones only by a gas fired hot water boiler. As part of the company's on-going energy efficiency program, 16969 Von Karman was chosen to have a lighting retrofit. The retrofit consisted of replacing the standard F-40 lamps with energy efficient T-8 lamps. Furthermore, new occupancy sensors were added to the system. This work was completed in 1999.
