The Pan American Life Center continues to be proactive in implementing energy-efficient upgrades and keep up with current innovations to reduce consumption and waste. Listed below are some of the Center's completed as well as ongoing improvement projects:

• Recently the building standard F17, T8 bulbs have become available in a LED, and the extensive conversion to these has begun in some common areas only thus far.
• In 2015, the entire garage T8 fluorescent lighting was replaced with LED tubes.
• A new automation system was deployed and replaced an antiquated pneumatic temperature and equipment operation controls system.
• The main chillers and an after-hours chiller were replaced.
• Elevator upgrades included installation of Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs).
• Elevator dispatch control has been adjusted to rest elevators more as opposed to continuously repositioning elevators to advantageous positions to expedite service.
• VFDs were also installed in Air Handling Units (AHUs).
• Cooling towers were replaced with stainless steel constructed towers and VFDs.
• Incandescent lamps are being replaced with LED bulbs.
• Domestic water pumps were replaced with VFD pumps.
• Some pump and fan motors have been replaced to energy efficient models -- this, too, has been undertaken on an ongoing phase-by-phase basis.
• Lighting controls have been upgraded with motion sensors in some occupied areas.
• Fluorescent stairwell lighting has been replaced with LED lighting.
