North Springs High School opened in 1963 with 20 classrooms. It has received numerous additions over the years with the last being a 13-classroom addition in 2005 that increased the school to a 92-classroom, 297,170 square foot building that is a Math/Science and Visual and Performing Arts Magnet School. The building received a major HVAC replacement in 2010 and the current mechanical design is water source heat pumps for classroom areas, gas heat/air cooled roof top units for assembly areas, and variable refrigerant flow systems for some office areas. The school has a robust direct digital control building automation system by Automated Logic Corporation. The building is a two-story brick building that sits on a 39-acre campus in Sandy Springs.
