building

Trihydro's corporate headquarters, located in the Laramie River Business Park , was designed and built to be energy efficient and environmentally friendly, as well as provide a comfortable work setting for employees.   According to ENERGY STAR's Labeled Buildings list, Trihydro's corporate office is the first privately owned building to receive the ENERGY STAR award in the State of Wyoming . Developed and owned by Tight Lines, LLC, the 23,200 square-foot facility is located on a five-acre commercial lot adjacent to the Laramie River Greenbelt .   Completed in June 2004, the building features approximately 100 open-environment work stations, 20 hard-walled offices, four meeting rooms, a large training room, and a cafeteria that adjoins an outdoor patio, complete with deck chairs and gas grill. In addition, the building houses the company's state-of-the-art communications and IT systems, consisting of a sophisticated data center, server room, back-up power generation system, and high-speed internet services, all connected via local and wide-area networks.   The building's architectural layout and design, operating systems, and the materials used in construction contribute to wise energy usage and less energy consumption for heating, cooling, and lighting.

The Trihydro building is one of the most environmentally friendly buildings in the region, promoting energy conservation and long-term sustainability through its design, construction and operation. For example, the building includes programmable lighting and air handling systems, designed and set to save energy through occupancy-load optimization. In addition, the lighting systems use indirect lighting fixtures with T-8 bulbs and electric ballasts. These systems are not only more energy efficient, but they disperse light more broadly and evenly by bouncing it off of the ceilings, thus allowing use of fewer fixtures and bulbs. Much of the furniture, floor coverings and finishes are manufactured of recycled content and are certified as VOC-free by the manufacturers. The building's High R-value wall, roof, and window constructions are designed to reduce energy loss while promoting winter-time solar gain and further enhancing day-time lighting efficiency. Other features include cafeteria cabinets constructed from 100% recycled sunflower seed shells.   The bathrooms are equipped with waterless urinals and low flow toilets, estimated to save a total of more than 300,000 gallons of water each year. Drought tolerant landscaping surrounds the building and a decision not to use wood, but rather wood accents, helped the building achieve environmental friendly status. Although some of these features have higher relative costs, in the long run these sustainable options outweigh the cost factors and ultimately benefit the company.   Successful combinations of many environmentally-friendly systems and features , in conjunction with energy-wise operation and conscientious staff have all helped the building earn this prestigious award.
