managed by Hines, Point West Corporate Center at 1610 Arden Way is
one of three low-rise buildings that comprise the Point West
campus, located in the heart of suburban Sacramento?s Point West
submarket. This 146,846-square-foot, two-story building was
designed by Leason F. Pomeroy Associates and was completed in
1984. It is distinguished by an exterior of dark brick and black
reflective glass, with a series of setbacks that help to add
visual interest and reduce the building's visual mass. Inside,
Point West Corporate Center sits within a landscaped campus and
includes a central atrium lobby with a pond feature.
Point West
Corporate Center earned the ENERGY STAR for superior energy
performance through extensive retrofitting of the building's
energy-consuming infrastructure and an active and ongoing
commitment to the energy-efficient management of the building
operations. On the infrastructure side, HVAC systems at Point West
Corporate Center were upgraded to include variable frequency
drives (VFDs) on building air handling units and cooling tower
fans. These drives allow the HVAC systems to operate at levels
that correspond closely to actual demand?reducing unnecessary
energy consumption. Another upgrade was the installation of
high-efficiency T-8 fluorescent lighting fixtures throughout the
buildings helping to reduce the amount of energy required to light
tenant and common areas. On the management side, the building
automation system at Point West Corporate Center was upgraded and
expanded, enabling property managers and building engineers to not
only actively monitor building energy consumption, but also
exercise central control over parameters such as HVAC start/stop
times, HVAC setpoints, and lighting levels in common interior and
exterior areas.
