managed by Hines, Point West Commercentre at 1545 River Park Drive
is one of three low-rise buildings that comprise the Point West
campus, located in the heart of suburban Sacramento's Point West
submarket. This 121,519 square-foot, four-story building was
designed by Peter A. Lenderrum Associates and completed in 1983.
The exterior is finished in bands of precast concrete and dark
reflective glass, and the lobby includes a distinctive water feature.
Point West
Commercenter earned the ENERGY STAR for superior energy
performance through extensive retrofitting of the building's
energy-consuming infrastructure and an active and ongoing
commitment to the energy-efficient management of the building
operations. On the infrastructure side, HVAC systems at Point West
Commercenter were upgraded to include variable frequency drives
(VFDs) on building air handling units and cooling tower fans.
These drives allow the HVAC systems to operate at levels that
correspond closely to actual demand?reducing unnecessary energy
consumption. Another upgrade was the installation of
high-efficiency T-8 fluorescent lighting fixtures throughout the
buildings, helping to reduce the amount of energy required to
light tenant and common areas. On the management side, the
building automation system was upgraded and expanded, providing
building managers with additional information about building
energy consumption and giving them additional tools to control it.
