building

The Miller Brooks building is a 16,000-square-foot structure with a brick, metal, and split-face block facade. Located in Zionsville, Indiana (a suburb of Indianapolis), the building is owner-occupied by Miller Brooks, a marketing and branding agency with more than 40 employees. Over the years, the building and grounds have been carefully managed to maintain the building?s appearance and function as a creative environment for employees and the many clients who visit on a daily basis. Improvements and enhancements have added value to the building?s sustainable profile.

The company?s directors chose to employ behavior-based changes in order to save energy and run an environmentally-friendly business.  They focused on solid waste reduction; recycling; unplugging energy wasters such as space heaters; designating convenient parking spaces for efficient vehicles; and reserving space for bicycle parking. In addition to these changes, exterior landscaping was designed with efficiency in mind. The efforts made by all employees have helped the Miller Books building to save energy and earn ENERGY STAR certification.
