The Tulsa Kerr Edmondson State Office Facility features a multilevel reinforced concrete building with an area of more than 273,000 square feet. The building houses several Oklahoma state agencies, including Department of Human Services, Department of Corrections, and Oklahoma Tax Commission. Over 600 employees work in the complex with more than 380,000 visitors annually. Energy upgrades began during the Carter Administration. Recent upgrades have resulted in significant energy savings.
Recent upgrades include:
-- Digital controls and Variable Feed Drives were added to the building automation system, creating a more efficient operation.
-- Old variable pitch axial fans were replaced with new high efficiency fans with Variable Feed Drives.
-- Metalized solar control film was installed on the east, south, and west windows.
-- Lighting upgrades were completed, including a T8 retrofit.
-- LED light bulbs are used in all 24/7 lighting applications.
-- T5 fixtures replaced 150-watt mercury vapor fixtures.
-- Auditorium lighting has been replaced with energy-smart, 15-watt dimmable spotlights.
-- Occupant sensor lighting controls have been installed in all restrooms, storerooms, and many offices.
-- Water conservation measures were also implemented, including the use of low flow aerators, urinals, and toilets.
Through tenant participation and cooperation with building management, the Department of Central Services is proud to manage the ENERGY STAR labeled Kerr Edmondson Building.
