The Missouri Department of Conservation protects and manages the fish, forest, and wildlife and provides an opportunity for all citizens to use, enjoy, and learn about these resources. The Sedalia Office was built in 2005 and houses our regional staff.
This 6,200-square-foot office uses a ground coupled heat pump for the heating and cooling system, efficient T8 fluorescent lighting, an outside air energy recovery unit, and tinting treatment on decorative windows, and it is well insulated.
More importantly, however, the staff is interested in and practices energy conservation. The staff turns off the lights, computers, and other equipment when not needed. If daylighting is adequate, they keep the lights off in the corridors. They maintain higher thermostat settings in the summer and lower settings in the winter to keep people comfortable. The HVAC system also does night and weekend setback during unoccupied hours.
We congratulate the Sedalia Office staff on their environmental stewardship while lowering our energy costs and demonstrating a wise use of taxpayer dollars.
