The Automatic Controls Equipment Systems, Inc. building was purchased and remodeled during the summer of 2008. As part of the remodeling process, the building management team chose to implement many energy-saving processes. The building was used as a showroom with large windows across the entire front. The team installed window film that both cuts down on the heat load from sunlight and provides additional insulation. Shades were installed on the same windows to reduce glare. Insulation was added to the entire drop ceiling of the second floor, and all supply ductwork was also wrapped with insulation. The existing programmable thermostats were replaced with Automated Logic BACnet programmable thermostats to provide optimal start and scheduling functions. A new Munters unit was installed that is dedicated to the training room. This unit utilizes a CO2 sensor to control the fresh air intake to maintain the proper ventilation during high occupancy periods. All of the metal-halide lighting fixtures were replaced with either high output efficient florescent fixtures or T8 fixtures.
