The academic course work
Necessary improvements totaled more than 8 million dollars. The projected costs fell into several broad categories: 1) additions and upgrades to the auditorium, science labs, and library spaces, and general ADA upgrades to the building; 2) renovations of the heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning systems; 3) upgrades to the lighting and electrical systems, including technology, communications, and security systems; 4) repair and/or replacement of doors, interior finishes, and ceilings; 5) renovations to the plumbing system to meet current codes; and 6) miscellaneous site and environmental improvements.
An ENERGY STAR partner since 2007, the district followed ENERGY STAR Guidelines for Energy Management throughout the design and purchasing decisions for these major capital projects. Data compiled through EPA's Portfolio Manager and its reports help verify that these improvements maximize the use of the school's energy resources.
