In keeping with its mission to deliver a quality education that meets the needs of the student population, the Red Clay Consolidated School District built a new elementary school in the Hockessin area in 2005. This new school meets the educational needs of students in the fastest-growing area of the district.

North Star Elementary School provides an enhanced learning atmosphere for 650 students in kindergarten through fifth grade. This modern educational facility, situated on a 17-acre site, was designed using a collaborative onsite process with input from the community and future faculty and staff.

ENERGY STAR Guidelines for Energy Management were followed throughout the design and purchasing for this new facility. Data compiled through Portfolio Manager help the school ensure that it maximizes the use of its energy resources.

  • Publish articles in local media, school newsletter and posting on the school's Web site.

  • Provide resources and data to teachers and students for use with class projects.
