The total investment in facility improvements for Conrad was slightly more than 15 million dollars. The energy-related work focused on the following areas: 1) upgrades to the heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems; 2) upgrades to the electrical systems to support the new HVAC systems; 3) upgrades to the original classrooms, library, and science labs; 4) installation of a new sprinkler system; 5) replacement of the plumbing system; and 6) correction of miscellaneous site deficiencies.
An ENERGY STAR partner since 2007, the district followed ENERGY STAR Guidelines for Energy Management throughout the design and purchasing decisions for these major capital projects. Data compiled through EPA's Portfolio Manager help school officials ensure that these improvements maximize the use of their energy resources.
