Since launching on Earth Day, April 22, 2008, over 880,500 inefficient incandescent light bulbs have been changed to ENERGY STAR qualified compact fluorescent bulbs by campaign participants at over 165 U.S. military installations and housing provider organizations.

The savings from these change-outs have added up. Over the lifetime of the bulbs:

• More than $26,320,700 in energy cost will be saved;
• Nearly 248,308,900 kWh or electricity will be saved; and
• 396,237,600 pounds of carbon dioxide will be reduced.

Thanks to everyone who participated in this joint U.S. Department of Energy and U.S. Department of Defense campaign, including the bases from every service branch, housing providers, military retailers, utilities, military media, and other partners.
