Quality Insulation Installers

Quality Insulation Installers is committed to securing high energy savings for all of their customers

For the last 30 years, Quality Insulation Installers has served the Milwaukee community with high quality workmanship. In 1998 they decided to incorporate home performance into their services. According to company president, Keith Williams, business expanded in response to customer demand. Harsh Wisconsin winters create moisture problems and ice dams and homeowners needed solutions with a whole house approach to address performance and comfort concerns.  In the last 15 years they have proved themselves to be industry leaders and effective homeowner educators. The organization prides itself on its efforts to expand the home performance market by sharing their practices with competing contractors and by completing projects that merit customer referrals.

Home performance projects begin with a whole house evaluation of energy use that includes measuring the envelope of the house, the HVAC system, and the ventilation. Quality Insulation Installers contractors are sure to address any concerns the homeowner has about the performance of their home during the assessment process. This effectively means that Quality Insulation Installers’ service includes an energy efficiency lesson for the homeowner. The contractor provides a detailed analysis of how the home is operating and what can be done to address homeowner concerns and save energy. Williams says that the education level is adjusted for homeowner interest but safety is something that is always covered. “Most homeowners know little about the potential issues they may have in their house, so safety and performance are discussed nearly 100 percent of the time.”

An impressive 90 percent of work comes to Quality Insulation Installers from word of mouth referrals. Their reputation has been spreading quickly, as evidenced by the 200 percent year-over-year growth in completed projects they experienced in 2013. The company continues to hear from customers years after their projects are completed. “It isn’t usually that we did something wrong”, Williams says, “but homeowners know that we have expertise and can help with new problems.”

Quality Insulation Installers would like to see a market where they face more competition. “Our philosophy as industry leaders revolves around sharing best practices with other home performance contractors. As we develop new strategies in assessing difficult structures and implement new installation techniques, we have shared these successes with our competition through both in-house and field trainings and conference presentations.”

Part of Quality Insulation Installer’s success comes from their willingness to take on projects that other contractors turned down. Challenging structures have baffled some contractors but Quality Insulation Installers used those projects as an opportunity to produce significant energy savings for their customers. Quality Insulation Installer’s average energy savings per project in 2013 was over 50 site MMBtu, more than double the national Home Performance with ENERGY STAR average site MMBtu savings per project. As a result, their Sponsor, Wisconsin Focus on Energy, presented Quality Insulation Installers with the Highest Energy Savings per Project Award in 2013. Quality Insulation Installers won a 2014 Housing Innovation Award for Industry Leadership and High Energy Savings for their dedication to industry expansion and quantifiably energy-saving projects.

“Quality Insulation Installers is a successful company for a simple reason: sharing.  Our philosophy is to move the home performance industry forward through sharing of information and techniques with other contractors and sharing the best approach to improve the home with the owner.”
