Measuring Improvement in the Energy Performance of the U.S. Corn Refining Industry

This document describes the data and analysis used to update the ENERGY STAR Energy Performance Indicator (EPI) for wet corn mills. The paper also compares the results of the original 1997 EPI with the updated analysis which is useful to someone who is interested in how the industry has changed during the last decade. The first section describes the data and the analysis used for the update. The second section compares the two models to show how the energy performance of this industry has changed over time.

Reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions by Advancing Industrial Energy Efficiency 2000-2015

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency expanded the ENERGY STAR program to address industrial energy efficiency in 2000. Since then, the program has helped manufacturers strengthen their energy management practices and has engaged entire manufacturing sectors in focused energy efficiency efforts. The results demonstrate that energy efficiency is a cost-effective strategy for reducing GHG emissions in the manufacturing sector.
