Momentum Chandler Piazza

Chandler, AZ 85224

Momentum Chandler Piazza, a 74,000-square-foot, high tech, and high performance green office building in Chandler, AZ, has achieved Designed to Earn the ENERGY STAR with a projected EPA energy performance rating of 99 (out of 100). The building is owned by the Momentum Development Company, which aims for environmentally conscious development. To form a committed sustainable design, Momentum Development Company collaborated with RSP Architects.

From the outset, the initiative was to have the Momentum Chandler Piazza designed to reduce energy consumption and operational cost, as well as promote work environments that foster productivity and enhance the comfort and health of occupants. The building development supports a movement toward increased energy efficiency, as many municipalities in Arizona require new construction projects to be and LEED-certified. EPA’s Target Finder was chosen as the appropriate tool to help ensure the building’s superior energy performance and reduced environmental footprint.

The building features an access flooring system for under-floor air distribution, which provides fresh air, better temperature controls, and energy savings. Additionally, an ENERGY STAR qualified reflective roof, recessed windows, and glazing help reduce heat gain, thus decreasing the energy needed to regulate the building’s temperature.

The project uses large windows, which will create a bright, pleasant work environment. Seventy-five percent of the spaces will be naturally lit, reducing the need for artificial light sources. With the exception of emergency lights, lighting is automatically shut off when the building is unoccupied.
