The Building Owners and Managers Association

BOMA offers information and guidance on green and sustainable building operations and practices through training, guides, and recognition opportunities.

Enterprise Community Partners

Enterprise Community Partners’ Green Communities program assists developers, investors, builders, and policy makers to improve the sustainability of affordable housing by providing technical expertise and tools. Check out their comprehensive resources, the Multifamily Retrofit Toolkit and Resident Engagement Training in a Box, for help saving energy through technical upgrades and behavioral changes.

Fannie Mae

The Fannie Mae Green Initiative provides financing for apartment buildings and cooperatives to invest in energy and water-cost saving improvements because these improvements lower utility costs, improve the quality of housing, and lower risk. Fannie Mae also serves the multifamily market by integrating energy and water efficiency considerations, such as underwriting projected energy savings and tracking actual energy reductions, into the standard underwriting, asset management and securitization processes of multifamily assets.

National Apartment Association

The National Apartment Association offers educational materials related to sustainability in multifamily housing, including training for the Credential for Green Property Management.

National Multifamily Housing Council

NMHC provides education on topics related to green building codes, green building labeling and disclosure, and building rating and benchmarking systems.

Urban Land Institute

The ULI Center for Sustainability supports land use professionals to invest in energy performance and portfolio resilience while reducing risks to climate change.  The Center offers programs to generate real estate solutions to improve energy efficiency and demonstrate the correlation with increased property values.

U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development

HUD is committed to promoting energy efficiency in its inventory of public and assisted housing, as well as housing financed through its grant programs, by providing technical assistance and incentives.

U.S. Green Building Council

USGBC works to promote green building in many building sectors and offers resources to help building professionals improve the environmental performance of their multifamily properties and achieve LEED certification.
