This 3-page fact sheet explains why providing whole-building energy data is more critical than ever; namely, that multi-tenant buildings are missing out on federal incentives because they lack the whole-building energy data needed to be eligible.
This resource provides guidance for utilities and states that regulate them on providing whole-building energy data for benchmarking in ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager®. In many parts of the country, whole-building energy data is not readily available to multifamily building owners, making it difficult if not impossible for them to track or report whole-building energy use.
This white paper provides a framework and supporting analysis to help policymakers and commercial and multifamily building stakeholders understand the key differences among performance metrics and choose those best suited to building performance standard policies. While the paper does not tackle the important task of setting performance levels for each metric, EPA may offer a similar framework for this step in the near future.
This 13-page document outlines EPA's recommendations for metrics and normalization methods for use in state and local building performance standards (BPS). Contents include:
Use this case study to learn about the work Kentucky has done in partnership with ENERGY STAR over the last several years to improve the energy efficiency of its K-12 buildings. State and local governments and K-12 school districts can use these approaches and best practices to drive savings in their buildings and enhance their ability to invest in student educational success.
Use this four-page case study to learn about the work Douglas County and Lawrence, Kansas, have done in partnership with ENERGY STAR over the last several years to improve the energy efficiency of their municipal buildings. Local governments can use these approaches and best practices to drive savings in their buildings and enhance their ability to invest in services for their communities.
Use this case study to learn about the work Kansas City has done in partnership with ENERGY STAR over the last several years to improve the energy efficiency of its municipal buildings. Local governments can use these approaches and best practices to drive savings in their buildings and enhance their ability to invest in services for their communities.
Learn how Des Moines Public Schools, a school district with more than 32,000 students and 70 facilities encompassing almost six million square feet of space, was able to improve its facilities and maximize energy savings by financing energy efficiency improvements through revenue bonds.
This 2-page factsheet summarizes the energy, operational, and property characteristics of wastewater treatment plants benchmarking in Portfolio Manager. Other statistics are also presented in an easy-to-read format.
The factsheet is part of the Portfolio Manager DataTrends series, which uses the data available in Portfolio Manager to examine benchmarking and trends in energy and water consumption in hundreds of thousands of U.S. commercial buildings.
