Open Requests for Feedback

  • Portfolio Manager Upgrade: We are soliciting input from the public on what changes should be made to EPA’s ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager tool. Learn more and provide feedback on our Portfolio Manager Upgrade page. (Open through 2026)

Past Requests

  • Updates to 1 – 100 ENERGY STAR Scores: We solicit input from the public when we explore or develop new 1–100 ENERGY STAR score models for U.S. property types or when we make updates to existing score models. See past updates on our Score Updates page. 
  • Proposal to raise minimum score for Designed to Earn the ENERGY STAR (March 2024): We proposed a change to the eligibility criteria for achieving Designed to Earn the ENERGY STAR recognition for U.S. commercial new construction and major renovation projects. This change does not impact ENERGY STAR certification for existing buildings and plants.

  • Proposed Criteria for ENERGY STAR NextGen Certification (February 2023): In January 2023, we first proposed ENERGY STAR NextGen certification and eligibility criteria. During the month of February, members of the public were invited to submit comments on EPA’s proposal.
