Target Corporation is a general merchandise retailer. Target continued to leverage ENERGY STAR® resources and reduced source energy intensity by 2.6% across its portfolio, contributing to a 35% reduction in carbon emissions since 2017. Key 2023 accomplishments include:

  • Earning ENERGY STAR certification for 23 stores and achieving a portfolio-wide average ENERGY STAR score of 75 across 1,755 properties.
  • Deploying LED lighting across 775 stores to save an estimated 14.5 million kWh and upgrading 1,350 rooftop air conditioners to save an estimated 15.5 million kWh.
  • Electrifying the heating systems of 14 stores with efficient electric heat pump technology.
  • Installing 26 rooftop solar systems, for a total of 588 stores with a capacity of more than 315 MW of clean power.
  • Educating customers about ENERGY STAR through its corporate website, indoor signage, weekly circulars, and social media.
