Southern Minnesota Municipal Power Agency

Southern Minnesota Municipal Power Agency (SMPPA) is a not-for-profit wholesale utility, that provides electricity services for seventeen municipal utility members. SMMPA increased adoption of ENERGY STAR® certified products by adding new initiatives and leveraging ENERGY STAR campaigns and messaging, leading to an estimated 25% increase in rebated products with estimated gross savings of more than 4,000 MWhs. Key 2023 accomplishments include:

• Developing new offerings for ENERGY STAR certified heat pump clothes dryers to complement its long-term promotion of ENERGY STAR and ENERGY STAR Most Efficient clothes washers.
• Conducting in-depth retailer trainings and deploying point-of-purchase promotional materials featuring ENERGY STAR for efficient products in small service territories throughout the state.
• More than doubled sales of ENERGY STAR certified heat pump water heaters from 2022 to 2023.
