Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) is a school district in Virginia. LCPS has a long-standing commitment to reducing costs and demonstrating good stewardship of public resources while promoting energy efficiency through ENERGY STAR®. Key 2023 accomplishments include:

  • Achieving ENERGY STAR certification at 30 schools and reducing the district’s site energy use intensity by 2.6% since 2022.
  • Saving more than $8.7 million in utility costs and more than $119 million over the past 30 years.
  • Investing $19.5 million in high-efficiency upgrades to two 30-year-old school buildings, with a projected $52,000 in annual savings.
  • Bringing 2,263 kW of renewable energy generation online at six schools, making LCPS's total solar production capability more than 6,500 kW.
  • Incorporating six electric buses and six electric driver education cars into the district’s fleet.
In 2020 ENERGY STAR and its partners helped Americans avoid more than $40 Billion in energy costs
