GID is an investor, operator, and developer of commercial real estate. GID leveraged ENERGY STAR® tools and resources to improve the energy efficiency of its properties and developed several innovative ways to engage with its staff to promote its energy management strategy. Key 2023 accomplishments include:

  • Achieving ENERGY STAR certification for 30 properties.
  • Working with its service provider, EnergyCAP, to automate utility data tracking with ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager®.
  • Expanding its energy audit scope to create a decarbonization audit, which includes calculating greenhouse gas emissions and impacts, identifying potential electrification measures, and examining available decarbonization incentives.
  • Conducting ENERGY STAR Treasure Hunts at 20 of its properties and establishing a protocol to include Treasure Hunts in all of its scheduled site walks.
  • Expanding on its green leases and green tenant guides to provide tenants and staff with energy reduction best practices.
In 2020 ENERGY STAR and its partners helped Americans avoid more than $40 Billion in energy costs
