Emerson, a global technology and software company, employed ENERGY STAR® tools and guidance to expand its energy management program, reaching an energy intensity reduction of 37 percent compared to a 2018 baseline. Key 2023 accomplishments include:

  • Achieving a 17% reduction in energy intensity over 2022.
  • Completing 27 ENERGY STAR Treasure Hunts, resulting in 6,000 MWh of energy savings.
  • Promoting the company’s involvement and success with ENERGY STAR tools and resources externally, including outreach to and engagement of suppliers.
  • Automating an ultrasonic parts washer to reduce the need for water heating when the machinery is not in use and replicating this Treasure Hunt finding at multiple sites globally.
  • Implementing an internal carbon valuation program to prioritize investments with the highest emissions reductions and releasing a company-wide Global Environmental Management and Sustainability Policy to advance the company’s decarbonization efforts.
  • Releasing Emerson’s Sustainable Building Standards to ensure that energy efficiency and decarbonization are considered during site selection, design, construction, and commissioning.
  • Supporting the Annual ENERGY STAR Industrial Meeting and virtual webinars by speaking about the company’s energy management best practices.
In 2020 ENERGY STAR and its partners helped Americans avoid more than $40 Billion in energy costs
