Northwestern University is an institution of higher education. In 2022, Northwestern University expanded its engagement with the campus community and the ENERGY STAR® program to advance energy conservation. Key 2022 accomplishments include:
- Participating in the 2022 ENERGY STAR Higher Education Benchmarking Initiative and co-presenting on an ENERGY STAR webinar focused on recognition opportunities for the higher education sector.
- Laying the base for new efficiency measures as part of a forthcoming five-year Strategic Sustainability Plan, including thermal storage at its central utility plant that could result in a 50% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions.
- Recognizing its facility team for their contributions to Northwestern’s 2021 recognition from the ENERGY STAR program and implementing creative communications to influence energy conservation across the campus community.
