LaSalle Investment Management is a real estate investment management firm. LaSalle leveraged the ENERGY STAR® program to engage with its stakeholders and communicate to investors about its strong energy management program. Key 2022 accomplishments include:
- Achieving ENERGY STAR certification for 33 properties.
- Conducting 29 ASHRAE Level 1.5 energy audits across office and multifamily properties, identifying a total of $2.5 million in annual whole building cost saving from various energy conservation measures.
- Launching its “#CertsUpLaSalle” marketing campaign and raffle to incentivize property managers to submit photos of completed ENERGY STAR certifications actively displayed at their property.
- Updating its Allocations Memo to include a sustainability section asking for information on the asset’s ENERGY STAR score, benchmarking requirements, ENERGY STAR certification status, utility billing structure, and tenant sustainability commitments.
- Committing to reduce landlord-controlled operational carbon emissions of its global portfolio of directly managed core assets to net zero by the year 2050, including a 50% reduction by 2030.
- Creating a Sustainability Sector Advisor role and identifying 24 employees from Asset Management, Research, and Transactions to provide subject matter expertise on the sector and business areas that they support, which is critical to the overall success of sustainability initiatives.
