Consumers Energy is a natural gas and electric utility. Consumers Energy increased awareness of its Home Performance with ENERGY STAR® program by offering new incentives and marketing materials to its contractors, allowing them to enhance customer engagement during audits and installations, and through targeted emails. Key 2022 accomplishments include:
- Saving 283 MWh of electricity and 35,009 MCF of natural gas through Home Performance with ENERGY STAR (HPwES) upgrades, representing enough electricity to power 34 homes and enough natural gas to heat 368 homes.
- Offering performance-based incentives to its HPwES contractors.
- Providing incentives for the construction of more than 400 ENERGY STAR certified homes, an increase of 8% compared to 2021, for a total exceeding 4,600 since joining the program.
- Introducing a “Real Estate Energy Consultant” pilot to train real estate professionals about energy efficiency and provide them with marketing materials for new homeowners that explain available incentives for efficiency and electrification upgrades.
