ComEd is an electric utility in Illinois. ComEd prioritized expanding accessibility and adoption of ENERGY STAR® certified products for customers most in need, including those experiencing low incomes and small businesses in distressed communities. Key 2023 accomplishments include:

  • Increasing energy savings through the ComEd Retro-Commissioning (RCx) offering, which provides equitable energy optimization services, with 302 completed projects and more than 47.1 GWh in savings.
  • Increasing the use of ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager® by providing whole-building energy data through the online Energy Usage Data System application that enabled more than 7,900 buildings to benchmark energy performance.
  • Increasing multifamily energy savings by installing ENERGY STAR certified products, including smart thermostats, water heaters, refrigerators, freezers, and central and window air conditioners, more than doubling the number of tenant units served in 2023.
  • Increasing its home heating and cooling program uptake by more than 300%, resulting in the installation of nearly 3,500 ENERGY STAR certified heat pumps.
  • Constructing and renovating nearly 400 housing units to increase energy efficiency and installing $5.1 million in ENERGY STAR certified products in multifamily buildings.
In 2020 ENERGY STAR and its partners helped Americans avoid more than $40 Billion in energy costs
