Celanese Corporation

Celanese Corporation is a producer of specialty materials and chemical products for major industries and consumer applications. The company developed a low-carbon transition plan that includes energy efficiency as a key pillar of decarbonization and held over a dozen workshops to challenge sites to identify energy reduction measures. Key 2022 accomplishments include:

•  Achieving a 1% improvement in energy efficiency across its operations over 2021 and 2.8% since 2020.
•  Managing 130 energy projects across 23 sites with the potential to save $17 million when complete. Projects included a real-time energy dashboard for optimized loading of electricity from combined heat and power, heat recovery boilers and upgrades to boilers and boiler burners, and steam trap, insulation, and compressed air system improvements. 
•  Supporting the establishment of a regional ENERGY STAR® energy manager network to assist local manufacturers in improving energy management.
•  Mentoring ENERGY STAR industrial partners and energy managers in need of assistance with creating stronger energy management programs.
