Build San Antonio Green logo

Build San Antonio Green (BSAG) is a non-profit residential energy-efficient building program that promotes the sustainable use of energy and resources. BSAG incentivized the construction of more than 6,900 ENERGY STAR® certified homes and apartments, nearly three times more than the previous year, for a total of 22,200 ENERGY STAR certified units since joining the program in 2008. Key 2023 accomplishments include:

  • Reducing peak energy demand by 31 MW and preventing more than 450 million pounds of CO2 emissions through its green building certification programs, including ENERGY STAR.
  • Providing ENERGY STAR training for all BSAG staff, enabling them to help builder partners meet program requirements and provide quality assurance during the construction process.
  • Announcing a new Climate-Ready Building certification program, leveraging ENERGY STAR certification as a prerequisite, with an additional focus on region-specific climate adaptation measures.
  • Including ENERGY STAR as an integral part of its overall efforts to provide affordable, sustainable housing through partnerships with the City of San Antonio’s Green and Healthy Homes Initiative and with the San Antonio Housing Authority.
In 2020 ENERGY STAR and its partners helped Americans avoid more than $40 Billion in energy costs
