Bristol Myers Squibb (BMS) is a global biopharmaceutical company. In 2023, BMS leveraged ENERGY STAR® tools and resources to strengthen its energy program and amplified its promotion of ENERGY STAR to strategic suppliers. Key 2023 accomplishments include:

  • Earning ENERGY STAR certification for two pharmaceutical manufacturing plants.
  • Completing 64 energy projects, an increase of 45% in project implementation over 2022. A sample of projects includes boiler stack economizers, waste heat recovery on process water, air change rate reductions for labs, auto sash controls on fume hoods, chiller optimization sequences, and a focus on operational efficiency.
  • Receiving ENERGY STAR Top Project recognition from a group of peer manufacturers for its automatic fault detection and diagnostic platform in place at eight BMS sites.
  • Supporting the ENERGY STAR industrial partnership and Focus on Energy Efficiency in Pharmaceutical Manufacturing through multiple presentations and participation at industry meetings.
  • Establishing new sustainability design standards for new construction and major renovations.
In 2020 ENERGY STAR and its partners helped Americans avoid more than $40 Billion in energy costs
