Baltimore Gas Electric is a natural gas and electric utility in Maryland. BGE has leveraged ENERGY STAR® across its portfolio of commercial, industrial, residential, and products programs, provided customers with over $80 million in incentives, and achieved over 390,000 MWh in savings. Key 2023 accomplishments include:

  • Training 461 attendees on measuring and benchmarking a building’s energy in ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager® through BGE’s Building Operator Certification course.
  • Providing an online tool for customers to download building energy use data for single or multiple building accounts to support benchmarking in ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager.
  • Improving its ENERGY STAR certified heat pump water heater program through increased incentives and a new fixed-rate installation offering from participating contractors.
  • Using the ENERGY STAR Retail Products Platform program model to offer instant markdowns on more than 46,000 ENERGY STAR certified measures.
  • Incentivizing the construction of nearly 3,000 ENERGY STAR certified homes, an increase of 36% compared with 2022, for a total of more than 33,700 homes since joining the program.
  • Supporting 15 ENERGY STAR multifamily new construction projects, with more than 700 affordable units, and offering additional incentives for ENERGY STAR heat pump water heaters and smart thermostats.
In 2020 ENERGY STAR and its partners helped Americans avoid more than $40 Billion in energy costs
