Atkore, Inc., a manufacturer of electrical conduit and fittings, cable and cable management systems, and infrastructure, safety and security products, built a corporate program by applying the ENERGY STAR Guidelines for Energy Management and other program resources. Key 2023 accomplishments include:

• Achieving a 1% improvement in energy intensity over the previous year.
• Advancing energy efficiency by holding 14 high-impact plant locations (the source of 80% of the company’s greenhouse gas emissions) to a corporate requirement to reduce energy intensity by 2% within 1 year.
• Educating employees on energy management through co-branded ENERGY STAR posters strategically placed at high-impact plant locations.
• Applying information from ENERGY STAR Treasure Hunt maps to perform energy scans at six locations and identifying manufacturing plant energy projects that included motor upgrades, air compressor leak detection, and lighting improvements.
• Following guidance from the ENERGY STAR Energy Program Assessment Matrix by hiring a full-time energy manager and developing a well-defined energy team at the company’s Harvey, Illinois headquarters, resulting in a nearly 5% reduction in energy usage over the previous year.
