AEP Texas is an electric utility serving southern and western Texas. The utility partnered with builders and home energy rating companies to incentivize the construction of nearly 140 ENERGY STAR® certified homes in 2023, for a cumulative total exceeding 3,400 since joining the program. Key 2023 accomplishments include:

  • Implementing a comprehensive ENERGY STAR-focused English/Spanish marketing campaign, resulting in more than 5.6 million impressions, including streaming radio ads, paid search, digital ads, and responsive display to promote ENERGY STAR certified homes in South Texas.
  • Increasing the number of participating ENERGY STAR builder partners by 16% compared with 2022, representing a growth of 13% over the previous year.
  • Conducting more than 200 in-person meetings with builders and energy rating companies to mentor them on meeting ENERGY STAR program requirements.
  • Incentivizing more than 1,600 ENERGY STAR smart thermostats and nearly 700 air-source heat pumps, generating more than 980,000 kWh and 983 kW in savings, respectively.
In 2020 ENERGY STAR and its partners helped Americans avoid more than $40 Billion in energy costs
