Set-top Box Specification Version 4.1

The Version 4.1 ENERGY STAR specification for Set-top Boxes is currently under review. Materials related to this process are provided below. Stakeholders who received past communications related to the development of Version 3.0 and 4.0 will continue to receive updates on this review effort. Final Version 4.1 STB Program Requirements

On April 4, 2014, EPA released the final Version 4.1 STB Program Requirements for Manufacturers and Service Providers.

Version 4.1 Draft Supplemental Testing and Certification Proposal

In response to stakeholder comments on the Final Draft specification, EPA released a supplemental testing and certification proposal on March 7, 2014.

EPA released the Final Draft of the Version 4.1 Specification for Set-top Boxes on January 23. The draft and associated documents can be accessed through the links below. Version 4.1 Set-top Box Proposal Memo – August 29, 2013

The memo linked below presents the core changes EPA expects to include in the forthcoming Final Draft Version 4.1 ENERGY STAR Set-top Box Specification. Stakeholders are invited to join a call on Monday, September 16th, from 12 PM to 2 PM Eastern Time to discuss these proposals. Draft 2 Version 4.1 Set-top Box Dataset – June 21, 2013

EPA published the dataset used in the development of Draft 2 and has extended the comment deadline to July 10th. Stakeholders are invited to submit comments to EPA via email to stbs@energystar.gov.

EPA held an in-person meeting in Washington, DC, to discuss this Draft 1 specification on Friday, March 29. EPA is also releasing Draft Version 4.1 STB Manufacturer Partner Commitments for stakeholder review. Stakeholders are invited to review these documents and submit comments to EPA via email to stbs@energystar.gov by Monday, April 15.

EPA released Draft 1 of the Version 4.1 Specification for Set-top Boxes on March 18.  The draft and associated documents can be accessed through the links below. Stakeholders are invited to review these documents and submit comments to EPA via email to stbs@energystar.gov by Monday, April 15.  Also, EPA will host an in-person meeting in Washington, DC, to discuss this Draft 1 specification on Friday, March 29, from 10 AM to 4 PM Eastern Time. Please RSVP by emailing stbs@energystar.gov by March 27. Call-in and webinar capability will be provided for remote attendees.
