Innovation Initiatives
To reduce carbon dioxide emission, CEMEX undertook two Global Innovation initiatives in 2010 of increasing alternative fuels and biomass consumption and improving clinker to cement ratio. Task forces were formed for implementing these initiatives. One main characteristic of these initiatives to improve their carbon dioxide footprint was the use of the web-based business network, SHIFT, to enhance knowledge transfer and promote innovation among CEMEX employees. CEMEX also partnered with ready mix truck engine manufacturers and helped in the development of fuel efficient/environmentally friendly ready mix trucks.
