Mansfield Independent School District located in Mansfield, Texas educates approximately 31,000 students over a combined floor space of more than 5.3 million square feet. The districts mission is to ensure educational and personal success by: aspiring to high academic standards; fostering a community built on mutual support and excellence; delivering innovative educational opportunities; and cultivating productive, lifelong learners. The district partnered with Cenergistic (formerly Energy Education, Inc.) and began implementing a behavior-driven energy management program. The successful partnership has led to significantly reduced energy consumption, and has instilled a sustainable energy ethic throughout Mansfields schools. The district has been an ENERGY STAR Partner since 2006.

Mansfield Independent School District has been recognized by EPA as an ENERGY STAR Leader for improving the energy efficiency of its facilitates by 20 percent compared to a 2004 baseline and as a Top Performer for achieving an average ENERGY STAR 1-100 score of 93 across its portfolio of buildings. Staff members, faculty, and students at Mansfield ISD have implemented improvements to increase energy efficiency and reduce energy consumption. Energy conservation efforts have been led by the schools Energy Specialists in conjunction with engineers and specialists from Cenergistic. Since 2012, Mansfield ISD has achieved a cost savings of more than $600,000 and an internal recycling campaign saved the district more than $42,000 from 2011-2012. Compared to its 2004 baseline, the district currently prevents the emissions of more than 7,200 metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions annually, which is equivalent to the carbon sequestered by more than 186,300 tree seedlings planted and grown for 10 years.
