Waller Independent School District (ISD), located in Waller, Texas, educates approximately 5,600 students and encompasses more than 1,170,000 square feet of space. The district believes that all students can be successful learners and graduate with skills that will allow them to compete in the 21st century workplace. Accordingly, the intent of the district is to serve all students regardless of their ability, environment, or national origin, and to provide them with opportunities to develop intellectually, physically, and socially through a quality system of teaching and learning. A partner of the ENERGY STAR program since 2010, the district enlisted the help of Energy Education Inc. to improve energy efficiency.

Waller Independent School District has been recognized by EPA as an ENERGY STAR Leader for improving energy performance by more than 20 percent compared to a 2010 baseline and as a Top Performer for achieving an average ENERGY STAR energy performance score of 85 across its portfolio of buildings. As of August 2011, the Waller ISD Energy Education program, led by energy specialist Terry Logan, has saved the district more than $1,000,000 since the program's inception 2010. Mr. Logan conducts energy audits to ensure that students and faculty are comfortable during class times and scheduled activities, and that energy is used only as necessary. He works hard to motivate everyone in the district to use energy wisely, keep classrooms comfortable, and practice smart energy strategies. Team Waller ISD embraced this program from the beginning. The conservation of our energy resources has been a district-wide effort. The willing participation of everyone - faculty members, administrators, food service members, maintenance workers and custodians - adds to our success. We adopted the Energy Education mindset district-wide and we will continue to conserve in areas throughout the district, said Danny Twardowski, Waller ISD Superintendent. Waller ISD recently earned The Award for Energy Stewardship from Energy Education. The district has prevented the emissions of more than 2,300 metric tons of carbon dioxide, which is equivalent to the carbon sequestered by more than 59,600 tree seedlings planted and grown for 10 years.
