Marshall Independent School District (ISD), located in Marshall, Texas, educates more than 5,800 students across more than 870,000 square feet of space. The mission of the district is to educate all students so that they may achieve their fullest academic potential. In 2008, Marshall Independent School District retained Energy Education and began implementing the companys people-driven energy management process. This successful partnership has led to significantly-reduced energy consumption and has instilled a sustainable energy ethic throughout the districts schools. Marshall ISD became an ENERGY STAR Partner in 2011.

 

Marshall Independent School District has earned ENERGY STAR Leaders recognition for improving its energy performance by more than 10 percent compared to a 2008 baseline. The district has also been recognized as a Top Performer for achieving an average ENERGY STAR energy performance score of 98 across its portfolio of buildings. Since July 2008, Marshall ISD has realized more than $434,800 in energy savings and has prevented the emissions of more than 800 metric tons of carbon dioxide, which is equivalent to the carbon sequestered by more than 20,800 tree seedlings planted and grown for 10 years. Staff members, faculty, and students at Marshall ISD have implemented hundreds of improvements in energy consumption habits. Their energy conservation efforts have been led by each schools energy specialist, with ongoing on-site training and oversight from Energy Education.
