In February 2007, Wyomissing Area School District, which educates approximately 1900 students, retained Energy Education Inc., and began implementing the company's people-driven Transformational Energy Management Process. The successful partnership has led to increased energy efficiency and has instilled a sustainable energy ethic throughout Wyomissing Area District's three schools.
Wyomissing Area School District has been recognized by EPA as an ENERGY STAR Leader for achieving a portfolio-wide energy performance rating of 75 out of 100 and for improving its energy performance by 20%. Wyomissing Area School District has avoided annual greenhouse gas emissions of more than 650 metric tons, the equivalent of planting more than 150 acres of trees every year. Staff, faculty and students have implemented hundreds of improvements in energy consumption habits. Their energy efficiency efforts have been led by the schools' energy educator/manager with ongoing on-site training and oversight from Energy Education's engineers and specialists.
Wyomissing Area School District became a member of the ENERGY STAR program in 2008.
