St. Cloud Area School District 742 educates nearly 10,000 K-12 students in nine St. Cloud area communities across 16 school buildings. It is the largest school district in Central Minnesota. Through a partnership with the Schools for Energy EfficiencyTM(SEE) program and ENERGY STAR, the district has implemented low- and no-cost operational strategies and a comprehensive energy awareness campaign, achieving more than a 10 point improvement in energy efficiency. In addition, they have one building that has earned the ENERGY STAR. Initiatives have resulted in more than $750,000 in avoided energy costs over a three-year period, and have had a significant positive impact on the local environment. In three years, the St. Cloud Area School District reduced CO2 emissions by 12,891,167 pounds.
