Sweetbay operates 108 supermarkets in West Central Florida. With the support of senior management, Sweetbay has worked hard over the past several years to improve the energy efficiency of their facilities. Major projects have addressed lighting, controls, refrigeration and HVAC. For example, lighting retrofits completed in 2005 saved over 10,000,000 kWh/year. Control systems are being upgraded in 2006, yielding further efficiency gains. Sweetbay has achieved a portfolio-wide energy performance rating of over 75.
