The Omaha World-Herald building earned the ENERGY STAR for superior energy performance by completing a series of retrofits and energy efficiency projects, including:

 

AHU and Pump Control upgrades

         Installed two CCSM Pump Flow Stations on both chilled water secondary pumps.

         Installed two CCSM Pump Flow Stations on both condenser water pumps.

         Installed two CCSM Fan Airflow Stations on the supply and return fans of air handling unit (AHU)-1.

         Installed two CCSM Fan Airflow Stations on the supply and return fans of AHU-2, 3, 4, and 6.

         Installed one CCSM Fan Airflow Station on the supply fan of AHU-7.

 

Continuous CommissioningSM Services

Chiller plant

         Developed CCSM Pump Flow Stations for the chilled water secondary pumps and the condenser water pumps.

         Integrated the chilled water secondary pump speed and supply water temperature control using CCSM Pump Flow Stations.

         Optimized the condensing water temperature control.

         Optimized the chiller enable schedule.

 

Boiler plant

         Optimized the hot water temperature and pump speed control.

 

AHU systems

         Optimized outside air intake control.

         Optimized the supply fan speed control for seven AHUs.

         Developed CCSM Fan Airflow Stations on AHU-1, 2, 3, 4, and 6 to control return fan speed and building pressure.

         Developed and implemented return fan speed and relief damper control program to improve the building pressure control for AHU-1, 2, 3, 4, and 6 using CCSM Fan Airflow Stations.

         Optimized the supply air temperature set point for all seven AHUs.

         Optimized operation schedule for seven AHUs during unoccupied time.

         Calibrated sensors as necessary.

 

Terminal Boxes

         Fine-tuned all single duct terminal boxes as necessary.

 

General

         Provided ongoing training to the building engineers during the CCSM process.

         Provided a CCSM operation manual to the building engineer and control vendor.
