Tower Colorado's management team and building owners are committed to implementing building improvements that conserve energy, reduce cost, and increase customer comfort. Energy efficiency improvements that have been made include:
-- Retrofitting lighting throughout the building.
-- Installing a flat plate heat exchanger in 2001, which allows for greater economizer opportunity and reduced chiller run times and wear.
-- Installing a new building automation system (BAS) in 2006, which controls all the heating and cooling systems, lighting schedules, and economizer functions, along with alarm notification.
-- Installing motion detection light switches in all bathrooms and some common areas in 2009, to reduce electrical consumption.
Planned future building improvements include adding soft starters to both chillers, which will lower the building's energy demand and prolong chiller life.
