Alpharetta High School opened in 2004. It was designed incorporating many LEED design approaches, including water source heat pumps with energy recovery units for pretreatment of outside air for most areas of the building. The central plant included variable volume pumping. The building includes daylight harvesting for reduced lighting requirements. The school has a robust direct digital control building automation system by Automated Logic Corporation. The campus is a hilly 73-acre site that includes bioretention cells for improved water quality.
