Since 2008, DPS has made great progress in reducing its annual electricity usage across its operations. While the company is still in the early stages of working toward its 2015 goal to improve energy efficiency and reduce carbon dioxide from emissions in manufacturing by 10 percent per gallon of finished product, DPS is already being recognized by leading environmental agencies for other efforts.

At its corporate 297,000-square-foot headquarters building in Plano, Texas, DPS reduced annual electricity usage by one million kilowatts per hour, earning EPA's ENERGY STAR certification for superior energy performance. The building was constructed in 1998 and currently accommodates approximately 1,200 DPS employees.

DPS enhanced its energy performance at its facility in Plano by making cost-effective improvements, including the installation of a new environmental management system to control heating, cooling and lighting schedules. Additionally, a reflective membrane was installed on the building?s roof to reduce radiant heat, and halogen light fixtures were replaced with high-efficiency LED and fluorescent lighting. These measures have helped DPS reduce energy usage by 22 percent in Plano since 2008.
